Life is something precious and should be treasured.
Don’t think that
Life is full of despair.
It’s almost always true that
Humans are a cruel race--
An absolute falsity—
Human hearts are full of warmth.
This may come as a shock to some, but
Hope and happiness are the things that power life.
I have never believed that
Life is pointless and no one can make a difference.
Life is full of opportunities and hope…
And it’s foolish to believe that
You are living a pointless life


The author's comments:
This poem I wrote was inspired by "A Lost Generation" by Jonathon Reed. This poem is first read normally as an optimistic poem and then line by line from the last line up is read as a pessimistic poem. It's a reverse poem and it was a joy to write!
