I relish the rhythmic sound of rain
As it beats the leaves above my head like a drum.
I find comfort in the noise of each drop,
Diving to the ground and drowning out all else.

I pose with arms outstretched and face upturned,
An open plea for the cleansing caress of nature.
My makeup is washed away as I am soaked to the bone;
I am refreshed and restored, pure and honest.

I strain to hear faint thunder in the distance
And dread its advance, which will shatter my paradise.
I gaze up at the moon and cherish the waning peace,
All too aware of its imminent demise.

I relish the rhythmic sound of rain,
But it is rapidly overpowered by deafening thunder.
My paradise is upended and in disarray,
And I despairingly clutch at the ensuing chaos with frail hands.

The author's comments:
This poem portrays the frailty of paradise, which represents peace and positivity in one's life. With the arrival of the thunder symbolizing an unfolding life struggle, I aim to illustrate the capriciousness of life. I hope to inspire people to appreciate the wonderful aspects of their existence and to realize that these pleasant conditions may come to an end.
