The Stages of an Athlete
1.
All the world’s a gymnasium, with cheering fans and professional
2.
athletes running up and down the length of the court. Among the fans
3.
is the toddler. He looks up to these 6’7 giants, aspiring to be them.
4.
The ball, a hot air balloon compared to the size of him. The toddler
5.
yearns to be like the athletes, but can barely grip the ball.
6.
This toddler then grows into a young boy, able to dribble the ball
7.
left and right. During the hot summers, he spends his time at camps,
8.
trying to master the complicated sport.
9.
Then comes the teenager, still grasping the love of the sport in his
10.
heart. His room filled with posters of his favorite players. He spends
11.
his time outside on the court, playing with his friends. When he isn’t outside
12.
playing, he is sitting on the couch, ball in hand, watching highlights
13.
of last night’s game.
14.
This obsession with the sport pays off, when the teenager turns into
15.
a senior and becomes the star player on his varsity team. Scouts on the prowl,
16.
like hungry lions, he signs to the college of his dreams.
17.
The senior turns into a college star. The stadium, packed with crazed college
18.
fans.
19.
He excels in the sport, and the college star becomes a professional athlete.
20.
The stadium is like a packed train, no seats available. The fans, like a sea
21.
of fish, proudly represent the color of their team. The aroused athlete
22.
looks to the crowd, where he sees a young toddler, holding the hot air
23.
balloon in his hands. Remembering his first basketball game, the athlete
24.
runs to the toddler and gives him a high-five. The child’s eyes sparkled like
25.
the stars in the dark night’s sky. From that moment, the child is inspired
26.
to grow up to be the athlete. The cycle then continues on and on and on.
