In the Arms of a Dream
Slipping into darkness, and
Shutting out the light.
Now something is approaching, and
Within my line of sight.
I hear a clap of thunder, ringing
Throughout the sky above.
Then raindrops begin to fall, descending
As lightly as a dove.
I close my eyes and listen, to
The softly falling rain.
I'm beginning to forget my fears, and
Releasing all of my pain.
Then I feel the warmth of your touch, upon
My bare and exposed shoulder.
I know exactly who you are and yet, you
Seem different, almost older.
I turn around to face you, and
Realize that this could only be,
The you I desire to be with forever, and
The you that fits perfectly with me.
A light then pierces the clouds, but
In a strong, yet frightening beam.
And then I awake to reality, because
I know that safety is only a dream.
