Saturday Night

December 8, 2012
By Anonymous

Broken road,
Cracks in the pavement.
Street lights glow,
Underneath there’s movement.
Shadows flicker,
In the evening light,
Nightmares triggered,
Later that night.
Bottles cracked,
Liquor spilled,
Inhibitions hijacked,
A battle of wills.
A punch thrown,
Another received,
Out escapes a groan,
Someone somewhere grieves.
In the distance sirens wail,
Lights soon flash,
No one there to post bail.
Welcome to the reality,
Of doing something rash.
Grey steel bars reflected in the light,
The home of the backlash.

I hope people understand why I have named this piece Saturday Night. I am trying to convey the consequences of not being responsible when you go out at the weekend no matter how innocently the night starts out.
