We are a dozen lives, a dozen tries
To be what others want to see.
We fear reality more than lies.

We hear laughter instead of cries
Because winners tell our history.
We are a hundred lives, a hundred tries.

Only our minds echo with weary sighs.
“I’m fine, goodbye, don’t worry about me.”
We fear reality more than lies.

We swear we won’t crush a single fly—
You’ll pay us? We’ll do it willingly.
We are a thousand lives, a thousand tries.

We shove aside those happy, those wise,
For who else knows how the world should be?
We fear reality more than lies.

Sweet deception floats atop our eyes,
Twisting our sadism into glee.
We are countless lives and countless tries.
We hate reality more than lies.
