The icky little fly,
so grotesque in its make-up,
slides sadly down the lampshade,
and onto the floor,
I stare at its sad existence,
and decide to squish it.

Poor fly,
should've evolved quicker.

The author's comments:
Sitting at the kitchen table over the summer I just so happened to glance over at a sad little fly sliding down my AP Biology binder. How obscure a thought this event provoked in me. I was inspired to write a poem, however meaningless, about it. Side note - I did not actually kill the beast. I let it squander and buzz around hopelessly on the floor... until my dog ate it, of course.
