above ground you
go obliviously.
under all the dirt
and grass
are huge pipes.
the sewer and drains,
along the sides of roads,
collect water
that builds and flows.
in these pipes are rats,
round and grey and
wet, with beautiful,
evil eyes, red shiny
jewels.
go down in the dark
in the pipes where
the water leaps
and runs,
and don't be afraid
of the innocent eyes
looking at you.
