Awaken
A peaceful evergreen
adorned in glitter,
Overlooks the sky as the air grows bitter.
The cherry brick fireplace
Holds lumber which kindles,
Unleashing smoke where the starry night dwindles.
A warm cozy quilt
leaves me feeling no guilt,
For this feeling I hold
Only awakens when it is cold.
A decadent mug
placed in my hand,
invites my tasteful senses to expand.
Luscious hot chocolate
greets my lips,
as the sizzling steam ascends in wisps.
A sweet cinnamon scent
fills the air,
Oh how nothing can quite compare.
For these feelings I hold
Only awaken when it is cold.
