New Years
We come back from break to a brand new year,
It’s hard to believe it’s already here.
A great opportunity at a brand new start,
To improve on ourselves in every part.
We heard the countdown from ten to one,
And cheered together when the year was done.
Our ears were ringing from the yells and the noise,
Especially from girls and the freshman boys.
We saw the fireworks light up the sky,
As we waved the year 2021, goodbye.
Our eyes were watering from the cold,
In hopes, our memories would forever grow old.
We tasted all food and homemade snacks,
And joked about starting a new set of tracks.
Our mouths were watering over the fresh fruit pizza,
Prepared by our friend, and his mom Lisa.
When we woke in the morning we could smell the bacon,
Except for Aziza, she could not be awakened.
It tasted so good after staying up all night.
It was actually almost noon and the sun was so bright.
We felt the hugs from friends we have not seen.
We also embraced the time off, from the basketball team.
A brand new slate is a really good feeling,
2022 sounds very appealing.
The first month of the calendar is underway.
We set new goals on New Year’s Day.
We enjoyed time with our friends the night before,
But started fresh when we walked in the door.
Another semester at school and in class,
And a new attitude, with a half full glass.
The month of January is only the beginning,
With a chance to recharge for a year full of winning
