Newscasts and masks

Something of which we did not ask

Sanitize and social distance

This virus could wipe out human existence

We were told quarantine would only last two weeks,

But, we were wrong.

Conflicts with the police and disrupted peace.

Black Lives Matter protests that last long.

Bored with nothing to do.

Can’t get into groups of two

Online learning and discovering that we can cook

Maybe we read a new book.

2021 we hoped and hoped

Vaccines invented quicker than ever

Grieving loses but figuring how to cope.

We survived this pandemic, however.

I wrote this poem about how I felt during the begging of the pandemic. It is a rhyming poem intended to tell a story.
