It was as though he disappeared

But he was still there

Swarms of broken dreams

Still consume my infernal soul

He, the match, met gasoline

My body caught aflame

As he rose with autumn ashes

And flew away into fiery wind

His body flew away like a fleck of dust

Until sorrow washed him ashore

Misery knit him a new persona-

An inferno of raindrops

Pitter-patters of his presence

He yearns for my attention

This bait will not tempt me

I wash his agony away

His deafening cries flood my ears

The once soft voice I knew dear

Embracing me whole

With one last plea

The rain has gone now

And so has he
