The Game - Homer Imitation
Sing in me, Muse, and through me tell the story
Of the young girl of Atascadero
Who came a long way from home
And saw the concentration of her swift-footed teammates
Inside the court boundaries,
Fighting the aggressive game of volleyball.
Hitting the floor, then getting up again.
Protecting the large area from their bitter-minded opponents,
And within themselves they knew, it would require
Hard labor. But, they kept going,
Wanting to become champions.
Tell the tale for us, beginning with the previous hour,
When Dawn makes her presence known the whistle blows,
And signals them to begin the strenuous, exhausting, match.
Where different teams once friends,
Were now sworn enemies,
Competing for a chance at victory.
