Sleeping on time, what a nice dream
No work, no tests maybe someday
Endless papers, or so they seem
Sleeping on time, what a nice dream
My stomach wants, late night ice cream
Bag done, some fun? it’s my birthday
Sleeping on time, what a nice dream
No work, no tests maybe today

This poem is meant to be relatable to any student. In this
Triolet the Refrain, actually slightly changes. The first time, using the word “someday”, a
clearly pessimistic view can be seen. The second time around, the word “today” carries a
more positive and optimistic attitude. The seemingly random reference to my birthday, is
simply there to question and also answer the fact that I rarely have any free time. These
subtle choices, open this poem up for potential trickery, and cleverness.
