Senior Year
It’s the most stressful time of the year,
I can see it ahead, my future is near-
It’s coming at me at the speed of light,
And there is nowhere to run, there is nowhere to hide.
My mailbox overflooded with tasks,
Transcripts, rec letters, my scores are unmasked-
My grades, personality, all of my color,
Represented with only just a few numbers.
The year turns a corner, my time is sucked up,
And now it’s my chance to say where I’ll end up-
To tell all my family what I will study,
And what I will do to make all my money.
This year wastes no time as it draws to a close,
As if all of my childhood suddenly froze-
We sit at a table around me, so that,
Everyone can see me pull my future out of a hat.
