It was late fall and the animals in the woods were gathering their needs for the winter. The birds worked  together as they built a cozy nest on top of a branch, while the bears were digging a den to stay warm. A squirrel was quickly moving all sorts of berries into its home, thrilled with the idea of having plenty of food during the cold. All the animals in the woods were working hard, in search of food and shelter... Well, except for the sloth.
As the squirrel  was transporting goods to his home, he wondered why the sloth wasn’t doing any work in preparation for the cold. Looking at the sloth laying on a tree branch made it evident that the sloth didn’t want to work at all. As the squirrel witnessed the sloth moving slowly towards its remaining source of food, the squirrel was concerned that she would run out of leaves to feed on by the time winter arrives.  The squirrel finally decided to ask the inactive sloth with concern, “Sloth, why aren’t you gathering more leaves or preparing a home for the winter time?”
“There’s still sooooooo much time left!” the sloth replied lazily as she reached out her long claws, embracing a branch of a tall tree. The sloth just hung there enjoying the late autumn breeze, "don't mind me, just worry about yourself and your tiny paws!"
The squirrel continued to transport berries from one tree to another using its tiny paws while the sloth just relaxed. By the end of the month, all the animals were ready for the new season to arrive...except for the sloth. When the animals began sensing the change in weather, they went into their own cozy homes, packed with more than enough supplies. The squirrel was also safe from the crisp air, with plenty of berries stocked up in his den.
The bears, birds, and the squirrel were safe and sound. The sloth, on the other hand, was trying to curl up into a ball to keep herself warm. The sloth was left alone in the freezing weather with no warmth or food. The sloth that had kept insisting there was soooo much time left to prepare for winter was now left with nothing. As time passed, the sloth ran out of leaves to feed on and began losing energy. Then one day, with no more power to hang on a branch, the sloth took her last breath. Only if the sloth had used her time wisely…

Moral : Use your time wisely.

The author's comments:

This fable is based on a true story. The moral reflects a lesson I learned during middle school. It was a time when I constantly kept procrasinating for an english project. Because of this experience, I learned to use my time wisely and get my work done in advance.
