Ashes by Ilsa J Bick is unput downable. Ilsa J Bick is a science fiction author who has written many series and short stories. The plot seems typical and cliché to someone who hasn’t read the book. It is an amazing version of the zombie apocalypse. The main character (Alex) has brain cancer when the electromagnetic wave strikes. She meets a young girl and a young soldier who is on leave. Together they go through challenges. Ilsa is very descriptive giving the reader a very accurate image of what Alex is experiencing. The events are far from obvious and make you think on what will happen next. It is extremely thought provoking and makes you scream for more. It ends on a very tense note making you yearn to find out what happens to her next. Although it’s a very effective technique to get the reader to read the next book, it is frustrating. It is a wonderful book for teenage readers. It is a must read so go out and get it ASAP.
