An Engagement

A leaf descended from the tree above
Interrupting my engagement
The soft cry of a nearby dove
Concluded my arrangement
And yet declined was my courageous offer
Ignored were the benefits provided
It’s true that love can make thy softer
But I was too afraid to try it.
Complete were the sidewalks
In which I walked upon in glum
The dove has left, replaced with a hawk
Acknowledged was his aggravated hum.
I wish that the day would disapparate and this life would conclude
I doubt that I will ever escape this horrid and desperate mood
