An Imaginary Friend

My Sylvia adventure began with a dream
Starting with a window in a towering castle
And a magic-drenched girl—Sylvia, it may seem.
When schoolyard life became a hassle,
I could slip into a whole new existence
As Sylvia, a braver, bigger, better me.
Why, Sylvia, is it your insistence
That you cage me in and not let me be free?
Sylvia, you make me withdraw from the world!
You make me breathe you every day and night!
And that is why, I tell you, that I hurtled
To new dimensions, to many a new sight.
Even so, you—yes, you—are my very first
And if I let you go completely, I might as well burst.

It can be. In seventh grade it was getting to the point where I was the most antisocial person ever because I was always in a different world. Now I think I NEED to take time away from my social life and friends at school and just spend time with my imagination. I think there should be a spirit day called "Antisocial Day". That was random. But I think there should be.

I retreat into my imagination whenever I'm uncomfortable or scared. Sometimes it's good but there are times when it's not appropriate.

Wonderful. very relatable. it reminds of me of how when i feel alone, I can look to my story characters for companionship. That may have not been your intended meaning, but that's what this poem means to me.
Sylvia Green is my beloved character. I wrote this when I was going through a tough spot in one of her stories.
