Rose colored glasses
I want to cradle the world in my hands
So that my eyes can only see shiny purple flowers and flourishing trees
With children running across the bright green grasslands
Soaking up the summer breeze
But when I take off my rose colored glasses
I see the stormy clouds fill up the sky with ease
A sorrow frown fills the masses
As the pouring rain replaces the summer breeze
Weeds trench through the now withering flowers
Surrounding the fallen leaves
My eyes scatter the land as the dark sky devours
My heart fills with a sense of grief
Because what is life without beauty
What is a painter without a brush
What is a soldier without duty
What is a romantic without a crush
Then again the way the rain falls hums my ears
The light grey sky gives me a sense of peace
I kind of love watching the crowded grasslands clear
Landscapes changing feels like a new art piece
Is beauty filling checks in boxes
Or is beauty in the eyes of the beholder
Can one prefer the pounding rain drops
Oh well maybe I’ll get wiser as I get older
