Mental Health as a Teen

The thoughts, they overwhelm me every day.

My mind is haunting me each day and night.

I can't escape the thoughts, they want to stay.

Brain's full and empty, vibrant shade of white.

The illnesses, there are so many names.

In therapy in search of some kind of "cure."

Fingers pointed at me, I am to blame.

Trying to diagnose but they aren't sure.

Depression, anxiety, many more.

Can't sleep at night, things have to be perfect.

Mental hospital stuck on the fourth floor.

My mind, my feelings, they all disconnect.

I read, I write but nothing seems to help.

I'm stuck drowning in my own mental health.

Hi there,

I wrote this sonnet for school originally but my teacher recommended this website to submit my poetry. So, thank you to her and I'll be uploading any poems or stories that I write.

@realistically_kai, I like the poem. You follow the rhyme scheme constantly and it's nice. I like how at the end you have a couplet that rhymes, making it truly seem finite. Keep writing and posting it on here as your teacher said, hopefully it can be an outlet for you, writing surely has been for me. Stick in there my man, I look forward to reading more from you.
