The last boy really hurt her
She doesn't want to feel
She's building up a wall now
And that was her deal
But now she is upset
She can't find any joy
At least no more new guys
Will treat her like a toy
Now she's crying and crying
It's not supposed to be like this
Fighting and trying
For what she didn't miss
So then when the right guy came
With the sparkle in his eye
She felt nothing but shame
Because she couldn't hide
She tried to love him
For what he really was
But the girl couldn't understand
Why he did the things he does
And she got flowers on the table
A love that was stable
Swept her off her feet
The kind of man that her daddy would wanna meet
And she tried and she tried
And she cried and she cried
But she couldn't get past the bitterness
The way that she thought that every guy always is
She tried to love him so hard
But she let it go too far

He still bought her flowers on the table
A love that was stable
He gave her happiness
Not just a temporary bliss
He gave her one last kiss
And if she had one wish
You know she'd take that wall down
And relive all of this

I already know this isn't perfect poetry, but it meant something to me as I wrote it thinking about how I wish I hadn't built walls up after people in my life had hurt me. Once you build those walls up they can be impossible to break.
