Old Scars
Walking down memory lane
 Tracing old scars
 Chasing down happy tears
 Chasing away all my fears
 Remember why I’m here
Remember who is by my side
 Walking down memory lane
 Tracing old scars

My finger traces a path along my wrist
As I recall the story to each scar
 The reason behind each cut
The path winds down my abdomen
 Across my thighs and calves
A story and reason for each scar
A lonely night cried to sleep
These old scars have their own memories

 Walking down memory lane
 Tracing old scars
 Chasing down happy tears
 Chasing away all my fears
 Remember why I’m here
Remember who is by my side
 Walking down memory lane
 Tracing old scars

A blade, a knife, anything sharp
 It didn’t really matter
 As long as blood flowed
 Now it’s just my finger
 Softly tracing these scars
 A tear for each one
 Just like those nights
 So long ago

 Walking down memory lane
 Tracing old scars
 Chasing down happy tears
 Chasing away all my fears
 Remember why I’m here
Remember who is by my side
 Walking down memory lane
 Tracing old scars

And as I sit here this night
 Tracing old scars
 Reliving memories
 I find myself despairing
 Seeing how weak I was
 Seeing how I harmed myself
Seeing how I still long to
 Tracing old scars
