Far away in a time ago
When a melody echoed soft and slow
When the birds resting in the hills
Gifted grace of voice taught with tender trills
And the light shining from the east
Turned its face upon every man and beast
Blessed light won’t you shine for me
Don’t I mean as much as the wild beast
Can’t I run quickly ‘cross the hills,
Whilst I’m echoing it’s most joyful trills
