Bystanders
Just like a leper,
She is avoided, forgotten, and ignored.

All too common are the feelings
 Of depression, sadness and rejection.

Never does she get to feel
 Comfort, joy or safety.

 She’s slowly breaking down,
With every rumor, insult, and tease.

A reminder that she is a social pariah comes with
 Every persecutor, attacker, and bully.

 Every antagonizing blow
Makes us all cringe, wince, and cower.

Wanting to help, but so scared
So all I do is watch.
