you were born an original, don't die a copy

Suspended globes
Balls of swirling light
Galaxies in my palm
Nothing beyond them
But this
I looked through a telescope
And saw your face
We lived in the stars
Climbed down a constellation
In a parallel world

I must have left my heart down there
It must have fallen off my open sleeve
I was so childish
But I felt alive
Kept on giving till my heart gave up
And I wonder
Can it still beat without my veins?
Does blood still pulse beneath my skin?
And am I still alive,
Cause I feel
The empty hollow inside.

The world was our playground
We soared
On golden wings of light
Intergalactic
The world couldn’t contain us
We left supernovas
In our wake

I sewed my heart on
For the world to see
But the knot unraveled,
And the stitches fell out,
One by one.

I must have left my heart down there
It must have fallen off my open sleeve
I was so childish
But I felt alive
Kept on giving till my heart gave up
And I wonder
Can it still beat without my veins?
Does blood still pulse beneath my skin?
And am I still alive,
Cause I feel
The empty spaces,
They’ve swallowed up all of me.

Life was a fairy tale
We built castles in the sky
You put a crown
On my head,
We held the stars in our eyes

Our cosmos was expanding
That it does no more
Fireballs and stars imploding
The lights are burning out

Apocalyptic
And somewhere
In the rubble and broken glass
My heart lies
Silent and stone cold.

I must have left my heart down there
It must have fallen off my open sleeve
I was so childish
But I felt alive
Kept on giving till my heart gave up
And I wonder
Can it still beat without my veins?
Does blood still pulse beneath my skin?
And am I still alive,
Cause all I lived for
Is gone.
