Favorite Quote:
“And the movie's always runnin' in my head.
All the people, all the lovers, all my friends.
And I hope that they all get their happy end.
In the end.”
-The Story, by Conan Gray

Verse 1

Will you still remember me,

Once we grow up and we leave?

When we’re living in different cities,

And chasing different dreams.

Pre-Chorus

Oh, and one day we’ll leave this all behind,

But I hope we’ll always be on each other’s minds.

Chorus

So even if, the details blur, and the edges fray,

I’ll still keep our Polaroids in my wallet.

And even if the words lose meaning, and the ink fades,

You could still keep my letters in your closet.

We’ll pull them out, now and then,

Think back to when we were best friends.

Verse 2

Will you still start to smile,

When you think about me?

Once all we have left, are distant memories,

And each other’s names, flashing on our screens.

Bridge

Crumpled notes, and inside jokes.

Laughing till we couldn’t breathe.

Our favorite songs playing on repeat.

Spilling all our deepest secrets,

Just between you and me.

Pre-Chorus

I never want to leave you behind,

But now we’re running out of time.

Chorus

So, I’ll keep our Polaroids in my wallet,

If you keep my letters in your closet.

We could pull them out, now and then.

Because no matter where we go,

Or how much we change and grow,

You’ll always be my best friend.

The author's comments:

I've been thinking a lot lately about change, and the idea that eventually, everything I know now, is going to feel like a past life. In a couple years, my friends and I will have graduated, and we might all end up leading completely separate lives. If this happens, and we're no longer all living in the same town, or talking everyday, I really hope that we'll still smile and laugh, thinking about all the memories we made together as teenagers. To me at least, this is all a really weird concept- this awareness that our lives now, are going to be the cause of future nostalgic feelings when we're adults. That's basically what inspired me to write this song.
