They Are Gone

  Again, we heard it.
  They yelled “Timber!”
That had to be the last,
and then we heard ten more crash.
We’ve lost sight of the trees,
the bark, the branches, and falling leaves.
  Searching for miles,
but only to see new streets.
The birds, foxes, and squirrels are gone now,
all because their home was chopped down.
  The jungles.
  The forests.
  The woods.
  Where have they gone?
