Fingers stretching out --
breaths are held, eyes open wide--
Catch the dropping plate


The author's comments:
I was inspired by the scene in Mr. and Mrs. Smith in which Mrs. Smith caught a wineglass that Mr. Smith purposely dropped. It was a moment of tension and discovery of one's true self. This poem is an exploration of time and identity.
