My Mother's Kitchen
A woman enters the kitchen.
She turns on the stove.
She sets the timer for 20:00
A young boy rushes in.
She takes a pear from the counter.
The boy takes it and rushes out of the room.
The cookies bake in the oven.
The woman looks at the timer that reads 15:00
An older boy runs in.
The woman takes an apple off the counter.
The boy takes it and runs out of the room.
The chocolate melts in the oven.
The woman looks at the timer that reads 10:00
A man walks in
The woman takes an orange off the counter.
The man takes it and walks out of the room.
The cookies sizzle in the oven.
The woman looks at the timer that reads 5:00
No one enters.
A basket of bananas rot in the corner with fruit flies around them.
No one walks out of the room.
The cookies are burnt in the oven.
The woman pulls the tray out and gasps.
Another woman walks into the kitchen.
“I know it’s not the same, but maybe i should make the cookies.”

I wrote this piece in creative writing class and it took shape when i started to write. I didn't really think about the words on the paper i was just writing to fit the requirements of the assignment. Then when i stepped back and re read what i had written i realized that the piece was so much more then that. I changed a few things to fit my new out look at the piece. Afterwards i was pretty satisified with what was written on the single piece of paper.
