Queer Heart
A queer,
A hopeful soul,
stomped out like a glowing ember in a dying fire.
"Faggot," they say. And laugh.
A bloody gash appears on the queer heart.
"It's just a phase.”
Another gash.
"You are the gender you're born as.”
A deeper gash.
“You look like a boy. Stay as one.”
All bleeding, bleeding, bleeding,
until the blood is released
with a silver blade.
And the queer heart is no more.
