emotions
Fear creaks the door open
Clutching a blanket, tightly wound around
Shaking, whispering “Anyone?” into the darkness
Anger slams the door open
Hurling the blanket off
Shaking, screaming “Anyone?!” into the darkness
Sadness softly pushes the door open
Wiping tears on the blanket
Shaking, sobbing “Anyone?!” into the darkness
Shame backs away from the door
Covering itself under the blanket
Shaking, whispering “Anyone?” into the darkness
Grief stares dispiritedly out the open door
Losing its grip on the blanket, dropping to the floor
Shaking, thinking “Anyone…” into the darkness
Loneliness reaches out through the open door
Reaching for the blanket, somewhere, somehow
Shaking, hoping for “Anyone… please” into the darkness
Worry creeps around the open door
Clinging onto the blanket with all its might
Shaking, wondering “Anyone?” into the darkness
Pain struggles to open the door
Falling onto the blanket, red drenching the cloth
Shaking, screaming “Anyone?!” into the darkness
The door remained open
The blanket lay there
The darkness stood still
And no one was there.
