I once knew a girl who
was 5 years old,
played in the square sandbox out in the front yard,
And rode her bike absolutely everywhere she went.
She loved going to the park and playing hide and seek,
Make believe fly til there were scratches on her cheek.
She lived in the country where life was simple,
You never saw her frowning, her life was not sinful.
She was a church girl born and raised,
A roman catholic church is where she praised.
She slept with flopsy bunny who kept her company at night,
And she helped her sleep when she couldn’t out of fright.

I once knew a girl who
Was in middle school,
Had crazy entertaining sleepovers,
And made those funny faces in class when her friends peeked over.
She was confident and poised,
But something about her kept her from her voice.
Life was a little more of a struggle,
She had often kept herself in a bubble.
With her loved ones she was happier,
But while at school her feelings insisted on trapping her.
She loved swimming in the creek,
And playing kickball in the streets.
She still rode her bike almost everywhere she went,
and dirt roads where the dust danced were her best friend.

I once knew a girl
Who just started high school.
Her life to her was organized chaos,
But that was the life she knew she had to stay on.
Lengthy homework assignments every single night,
Most of the time she didn’t even do it right.
Always letting her feelings crumble,
Every turn there was a stumble.
She had an outlet where she’d volunteer,
That’s how she’s gotten through all of these years.
She had a passion for doing makeup,
Whenever prom or homecoming came around she was the hook up.
Her life wasn’t bad though she wished she could make revisions,
Every day she was on a mission.
She tried sports and getting involved,
But still there were no problems solved.
She sometimes rides her bike when she needs out,
Although most of the time she would have a blowout.
Sometimes limitations make it so things don’t go her way,
But she knows that she can really do something someday.
