Remain
  The Carpenters sons
  They are-a-prayin’ for rain
  But the storm won’t come
And the man in the alleyway
  Grips his gun
Cause there's a voice in his brain
That just won't leave him alone
  The laws of the land?
  He chiseled them in stone
  Listen:
  Distant hammers strike steel
  And sing out a song
  Watch:
  As the prophets pen
  Falls to the floor
  Dogs howl at screaming ambulance's
  But the alleyway cats
Just hissed and spit spat there way back downtown
Where the neon lights up the western sky
So, we walked to the sea
  Just you and I
Where we saw pages of our favorite stories
  Burning in the wind
  Boardwalk gathers heavy fog along
Pier lights were dim across the coast
Ghost of the carnival still linger on
My thoughts spin like the carousel
  Come:
Let us throw our diamonds down a well
Sit still as the ocean sits
  Silent and placid
Reminiscent of the mirror on your window sill
I look to my reflection: my eyes in surprise
  “Seize the day”
  I repeat
  Away and away
  Still, I remain
  Always praying for rain
