Lemonade
When she gives you lemons,
You make lemonade.
When she gives you a girl,
You teach her life’s lessons,
Yet you ignore all her questions.
You teach her to not be mean,
To sit tall, and poised,
And to listen to all the boys.
You teach her to not wear dresses too short,
And to not get “bulky” by playing sports.
When she gives you lemons,
You make lemonade.
When she gives you a boy,
He is loved and praised
For how he was raised.
He hits girls at school to show “affection”,
Yet you never taught him how to take rejection.
The excuses are,
“He’s just joking around.”
“How charming!”
“Boys will be boys.”
When will you teach him that
Girls are not his toys?
