My dream,
It’s of smiles and happiness.
In my dream,
My mind is at peace.

In reality,
My head is a hurricane.
A storm is approaching,
A bomb is ticking away.

But then I fall asleep,
And I begin to dream.
I dream and I dream some more,
Then I become okay.

When I’m dreaming,
My mind becomes still.
As if it’s meditating,
My head unclutter’s itself.

In my dreams I see stars,
Beautiful vibrant stars.
I see fields,
I see joy.

How can you see joy?
Joy, it’s a mist.
The kind of mist after a long rainy day,
When you stay in and cuddle the one you love.

How can you see joy?
Joy is a smile.
The kind of smile on a child’s face,
When they are handed a cone of ice cream for the first time.

In my dreams, I hear music,
Glorious angelic music.
I hear crickets,
I hear joy.

How can you hear joy?
Joy is a laugh.
The type of giggle when a girl is with her friends,
Teaching one another how to live.

How can you hear joy?
Joy is a silence.
The type of peace when you’re with someone,
But you are both comfortable in the still quiet.

In my dreams, I smell flowers,
Sweet-scented flowers.
I smell trees,
I smell joy.

How can you smell joy?
Joy is an apple pie.
An apple pie baking in the oven,
As the aroma fills the family filled home.

How can you smell joy?
Joy is a shirt.
The shirt you wore last time you were with them,
The smell of their cologne imprinted into the fabric.

In my dreams, I feel warm,
The comfortable type of warm.
I feel fuzzy,
I feel joy.

How can you feel joy?
Joy is a hug.
A warm hug on a cold day,
A hug that you can still feel even when it’s over.

How can you feel joy?
Joy is a handshake.
The first handshake when you make a new friend,
When you know how important they will become.

In my dreams, I taste sweetness,
The sweetness of a perfectly ripe strawberry.
I taste sour,
I taste joy.

How can you taste joy?
Joy is a cookie.
A cookie that grandma made just for you,
Fresh from the oven still warm and gooey.

How can you taste joy?
Joy is a lollipop.
One of those swirly rainbow ones,
When you lick it all the childhood candy store memories come flooding back.

My dreams,
They are a magnificent heaven.
Oh,
How I wish to live within my perfect dreams.
