Four Colossal Walls
They are the only ones who imprison me. I am the only one who is trapped within their bounds. Four colossal walls made of metal that cut through the clouds like mountains. Four who surround me wherever I go. Four who I wish would leave me to walk alone. From the comfort of my home I feel their presence, but my parents have long been free of their burden.
Their existence is eternal. They force constant reminders into my brain. They stand in front of me and behind me and block the path between me and what I truly love. This is how they take control of my life.
If I were to step out of line, diverge from the plan, they would only grow taller and stronger. Conform, conform, conform they say as I grow tired. They order compliance.
When I do not want to listen anymore, it is then that I about the walls. When I want to rebel against the expectations and chart my own path. Four who are always watching. Four who will cave in and suffocate me, trapping me for life. Four whose orders I must obey.
