I Am From
I am from the bingo game every holiday
From the old green couch and karaoke machine
I am from the spacious breezy house
Smell of warm cookies
I am from the lake the growing evergreen
Whose long gone limbs I remember
As if they were my own
I’m from family Christmases and brown eyes
From grandma and grandpa
I’m from baking and sewing
And from playing pool
I’m from laughing will make you stronger and love always wins
And polka music
I’m from Easter brunch
I’m from Iowa and Korea
Yaki soba and fudeon
From grandma forgetting the pie on the car roof
Bennett singing all the time
Scrapbooks filled with pictures
Over-filling boxes
All amounting to family
