A Poet's Love
Blankets straight from the dryer
The wind burns on your face as you walk on the beach
The taste of blackberries straight off the bush
Dirt gathering in the straps of my sandals
The feeling of jumping into cool water on a hot day
Watching the sun turn from cotton candy to dark
Sipping coffee as the brisk air hits my face
Laughing until I have to clench my stomach
Or tears running down your face
Rolling into bed when your legs can no longer support you
The way my bed covers feel at five in the morning
And the way they feel at ten at night
The way your toes melt in the hot sand
The feeling of your lungs being filled with fresh air
And you

I wrote this piece durning Valentines Day to show that the day of love is not just about celebrating the person you love but about everything you love. It is a good reminder for teenagers who feel they need someone on Valentines Day, celebrate the things that you enjoy everyday.
