In a Blink of an Eye
In a blink of an eye, you will be walking through the doors,
the doors of the high school that raised you to be the person you are today.
You will be hugging all of your classmates, you may never see again.
You will be saying goodbye to your past,
and hello to your future.
In a blink of an eye, you will be moving into your small college dorm room.
You will meet so many wonderful people,
who will be your friends forever.
You will attend college football games, become involved in clubs, and lay around all day to watch television series.
In a blink of an eye, you will be working at your first job.
You will be nervous, anxious, and relentless.
You will enjoy every moment of this job because you thought this day would never come.
In a blink of an eye, you will have fallen in love.
You will be leisurely walking down the aisle to see the person you are going to spend forever with.
You will see the look on the love of your life’s face, and know you made the right choice,
The right choice of falling in love with this person.
In a blink of an eye, you will be walking your children through the doors-
the doors of their first haircut,
the doors of their first school,
The doors of their church where they are getting married,
In a blink of an eye, your life will have flown by.

I wrote this poem about graduating high school and just what I think life will be like when I am older.
