Trapped in Color
At this moment I had a reluctance
That amounted to fear
I rightly didn't belong here
Because it was strange to me,
I would recognize it as a warning disregarded
I was not prepared
A man brooded,
His pale eyes were frosted with sun glare
His lips scaly as snakeskin
Humans being what they are
And I Being human, was not prepared
I
Rightly didn’t belong here
And then the late afternoon changed
Everything
It was strange only because I found it so
I stopped near a thicket of dwarfed
and wind-warped cedars and junipers
I was caught
Dazzled by the clarity of the light
The strange land scape shouted with color
The night was lovely beyond thought
The night was friendlier than the day
I built a small fire just to smell
The perfume of burning wood
I was caught
Trapped in color
