The Cookie
Strolling on busy sidewalks
people
street lights
city life surrounding me
I was never much of a city person
I approach a “sweet treats” stand
a petite, white hair, aged woman
positioned behind the lovely dessert
sign
“I’ll take uhhhhh that one please”
the amiable woman hands me a
cookie
I devoured the buttery goodness in my
mouth
chocolate chips melting on my
tastebuds
‘twas a delicious treat
minutes pass
still lingering around the bustling city
staring down at my feet I glance up
a wall
a cemented brick wall barricades
before me
I get up quickly
hoping nobody saw what happened
I lose all recollection of
what is happening
giggling commences
I brush myself off and continue to
walk
except this time I feel like I’m in a
new world
things become brighter and more
vivid in my mind
people surrounding me are now more
approachable
fast cars that once passed
slow down
everything just seems perfect
oddly perfect
strolling on busy sidewalks
people
street lights
city life surrounding me
The city was a whole new atmosphere
and I fell in love with everything about it
