We Will March On
You say we don’t belong here
You say we aren’t allowed to learn
To live
To love
Because we look different
We speak different
We love different
But can’t you see
We are just like you
We just want freedom and peace
We don’t hurt you
You are the ones who react
With violence
You scream names
You throw fists
We don’t fight back
We just march on
We are not less than you
We are not monsters
We are not a threat
We are people too
You don’t get to tell us
What we get to wear
How we get to speak
Where we get to live
Who we get to love
We are not worthless
We are not broken
We are not confused
Or crazy
Or stupid
We are strong
We are brave
We are whole
And we march on
We do not hate you
We don’t want you gone
No, it is you who does the hating
It is you who wants us gone
You get to be seen
You get to be heard
You think you are better
Smarter
You think that you are correct
And anyone not like you
Must be wrong
But this is not a test
There is not one right answer
Can’t we all be right
Can’t we all be seen
And heard
And acknowledged
Can’t we all have rights
And freedom
And peace
Can’t we all have love?
This is why we march
We will not be silent
We will not be hidden
We will march on

I was inspired by the recent LGBT Pride Movement, the Black Lives Matter Movement, and recent feminist protests. I really just want people to understand that we march for us, and our rights, and our love, not just to make you angry.
