Sitting in you room
Wall painted green
The strum of the guitar stops me dead in my tracks
Something I never saw coming from you
A song that I can foggily remember from my childhood transformed
As the lyrics poor out of you I should have known then
The way you avoid eye contact and felt every word you said
I knew then that things with us were a little more than friendly
I’m mesmerized by the way your curly ginger ponytail sway with every strum
It is if my heart skipped a beat with every strike on the strings
Everytime I look into your eyes I hold my breath,
Too afraid to ruin the moment.

Months later sitting in your car listening to our song I can see it all
I can see that the song wasn’t just notes for either of us but a way of confessing our feelings
I look at you almost begging you to kiss me without even saying a word
As the chorus we have listened to for so many days plays you pull me in
You kiss me like it was your one dying wish and I pull back,
Looking into your eyes I know that the feelings I have been feeling for months are true.

What had started as a friendship has grown into a love I never knew possible
And now everytime I hear the cough and first strum of the guitar I think of you
Because you are the one that will save me.
