Torn away

While traveling through the green countryside,
To visit the ones who you hold so dear,
Make sure that you always keep in mind
In an instant you can loose those who are near.
You will miss them as you leave them behind
It isn’t your choice as you’re forced to subside.
You’ll cry as you wish you could see them again
The family you joined has now died.
Those people you always viewed as friends,
Have been ripped from you as you tried,
To reach them as they’ve been torn from your side.
All you have left is a beacon of hope
That those who you lived who were so kind
Will be seen as you try to cope
With the heartache that is left behind.
My lesson though I am so young?
Is to preach, “ you stay close to those who you love”
And remember the times when laughter rung
Because those people, so close, can be pushed away with a single shove.

This poem is about the family I lost in a divorce
