This is not a shame
when I tell you my blood is not the same
There blood is bright and ruby.
Mine is dark and ebony,

A writer’s blood is not the same.

My heart is the paper
My blood is the story,
I shall not fear when my blood sheds,
For there is another tale to be said.

For an author’s blood is ink.

I wanted to write this poem for the Ink It contest, but more importantly I wanted people to understand that it is hard to be a writer because they put their heart into their work, for their heart is the paper and their blood is the ink.
