Look unto me in every thought. Doubt not, fear not. -Doctrine and Covenants 6:36

There is a monster inside of me,
And she wants to come out.
Rearing her ugly head,
I push her back down.
She has many names,
But hurts all, all the same.
Stealing my soul,
Breaking my heart,
Tearing others apart
Until they can’t stand
The sight of me--
Anymore.

She is me and I am her.

She festers,
And I bleed.
She fights,
And I scream.

Others let their monsters roam free,
But not me,
I choose to be free
Of all the pain weakness snares.
You may be fine
With her unnatural feeds;
Blood on your hands
While her victim’s tears hit your feet.

But when she hurts others,
She is really breaking me.

There is a monster inside me.
She wants to come out.
She has many names:
Pride, greed, and selfish need;
But the effect is the same,
And I cannot afford to be claimed.

The author's comments:

I believe that there is some sort of evil in all of us. Temptations that suround us on a daily basis, and it is our duty to oppose them. The natural man is not something we can escape in this lifetime, but it is something that we can fight against and win. I don't know about you, but I'm not going to let it take over.
