Protecting instead of harming
Loving instead of hating
Are some characteristics you never had
But I forgave you
Because you said
"I care about you."
Making you once again
The sweet guy I fell in love with.
Screaming and yelling
Led to nothing but beatings
I forgave you because you said
"I need you."
Slaps and punches
Led to cuts and bruises
But I forgave you
Because at the end of it all
You held me and said
"I love you."
