The Warrior's Wife
The wind was blowing.
The glass chimes slowly swaying back and forth.
A woman in a white yukata,
mourning over a stony grave in the cemetery.
Hating herself for not being able to stop her husband from going to battle.
He said that it was his honor to go to battle for his country.
For his family.
How much she craves for his presence
and
how much she desires to see his smiling face once again.
But death claimed him
before he could return to her and their children.
After weeping for so long,
the lady gracefully gets up from the ground
and
starts to swiftly walk back to her horse.
After mounting her horse she untangles the gift that her husband left for her.
In the cloth was a gift that others weren't able to get from their loved ones.
It was a rare gift for her.
One that she has wanted for a long time.
It was a necklace of gold
her name engraved into it.
While crying one last time
she rode off into the misty woods,
back to her home
back to her children.
