God planted a Marygold
In nature's busy garden

Never asking for luxury
The Marigold flourished in bare soil
Selflessly living to serve
The Marigold grew to protect the garden
Virtuously standing
The Marigold guarded against nature's pests
For years it stood unfailing
A beaming beacon of joy and faith
Unfading vibrancy of oranges and yellows
The Marigold grew to love and protect  the other flowers of earth's garden

But mold smothered her petals
And rotted her roots
Pests picked at her layers of oranges and  yellows
And Disease contaminated her soft soil

Unwavering spirits sparkled
Even in the Marigold's weakening stem

Until to the sky and Lord above
The Marigold angled her gaze
Into the wind and world beyond
The Marigold released her wilting petals

God caressed his merciful hand
Around the tired Marigold
Worn from weather and
Weak from disease

For from love she first bloomed
And from love she blossoms again

No more mold, nor rot
No more disease nor sickness
Only abundant love, joy
And everlasting peace

God planted a Marygold today
In Heaven's eternal paradise

My Aunt Mary was the strongest woman I've ever known. I miss her, and I wish we had shared more time together.
